@ loetise independent & private roleplaying blog for valentine "allie" fleur of original fae lore.

❂ ― blog wide guidelines ,
@ loetise independent & private roleplaying blog for valentine "allie" fleur of original fae lore. with blog themes of: never-ending hope, optimism, and a painful amount of naivety that comes with it, i wanted you to see my heart, the call of the wild blue yonder, being a friend to all living things, always sparkling, people-pleasing to a dangerous degree, a curious girl, a wanderer,, wide-eyed idealist, turning the other cheek, the life of the party,
▍ ❝ introduction,
hi! i'm aurora (twenty three, she/her pronouns) and this is an original, fandomless character based on fae lore. unless said otherwise, all graphics on this blog are created by me. since allie is an original character, please do not steal her or her headcanons. but i am in no way affiliated with kristine froseth in any way. allie has been under the urls floweredfae, petaledshe, naivetm, and springthings previously before this blog.▍ ❝ content warnings,
this blog will have adult themes, trauma, neglect, grooming, and abuse are all featured in allie's biography and what she has endured has greatly contributed to her present state. please take care of yourself! no smut will occur on the dash as i'm just not comfortable writing it publicly. i think plotting nsfw headcannons between two consenting adult muses can be a great way to discuss dynamics, but i have a lot of anxiety about writing out smut in detail so i really only ever do it privately. i tag my triggers as trigger /. always feel free to let me know if you need something tagged.
▍ ❝ activity + interaction,
my activity with this blog regarding actual in character content tends to fluctuate, but i am almost always available via tumblr ims or discord, and in general just lurking on the dash. somedays i can pump out 10 things a day, somedays i have a queue, but i can also go weeks without anything but shitposting.these days, i'm definitely more plotting based as i just don't have as much time or energy to write anymore and it's much easier for me to write with a plot, dynamic, or idea in mind. this isn't necessarily an issue, and i absolutely have fun winging things, but i do want to preface it here considering how low my writing content has been lately.all in character memes that i answer are always available to turn into threads, and none of the memes i have on my blog have an expiration date. i am so excited to write with you, i want to write with you always even when i'm a little bit slow to responding ic/ooc.i don’t believe in reblog karma, if we are mutuals, feel free to reblog a meme or anything else that is not stated otherwise. personals please do not reblog my edits or my promos, but mutuals are always welcome to!
▍ ❝ shipping,
to be honest, allie is a very easy muse to ship with. she loves hard and fast and romanticizes nearly everything. however, that doesn't mean i'm here just for romantic shipping. allie holds friendship in high regard as well, and i adore platonic connections. feel free to shoot me an im if you wanna plot/ship anything with me, or we can be free to wing/play with things just through memes to test the waters!▍ ❝ dni,
i ask that homophobic, racist, xenophobic, transphobic, pro-incest, islamophobic and/or blue lives matter muns do not interact with me, you will be blocked. also, i will not interact with any cop muses as long as it is clear to me that you are looking at this profession through a critical gaze, i am comfortable with following, hp singles (i will be very selective with multis that feature these characters or muses that have a verse and most likely will avoid that verse or specific muse), historical/rpf muses, whitewashed characters, or any muse that follows the dni mun criteria.

❂ ― allie fleur ,
do you love this world? do you cherish your humble and silky life? do you adore the green grass, with its terror beneath? do you also hurry, half-dressed and barefoot, into the garden, and softly, and exclaiming of their dearness, fill your arms with the white and pink flowers, with their honeyed heaviness, their lush trembling, their eagerness to be wild and perfect for a moment, before they are nothing, forever?

• eyes : cornflower blue in color, like a very clear blue sky, not pale or cloudy. she has long eyelashes, and she’s incredibly expressive with her eyes. they’re almost always bright and attentive and large. she has a habit of zoning out, and when she does her eyes become more doe-like, as well as when she’s confused, or upset, though her eyes are just as big and lovely when she’s happy, it just resembles a traditional doe eye more in those instances.
• hair : dishwater/mousy/dirty blonde with a caramel tone, though naturally it’s slightly darker but because of all of the time spent in the sun, it lightens in the spring and summer. it long, down to her mid to lower-back in length. loosely wavy, i think? the way she styles it is with loose curls towards the bottom of her hair, anyway, though naturally it’s not completely straight. it leans on the thicker side in addition with the layers, and she takes care of it so it’s bouncy, shiny, and soft. she also has long, light curtain bangs that are forever falling in her eyes. she really likes styling it in a ton of cute hairstyles, often featuring ribbons. for more ideas, see here.
• height : 4’11" in / 149.86 cm.
• build : her body type is mesomorph rectangle. she has a small frame (narrow shoulders and hips, thin limbs with slight tone, small hands and feet) with soft curves, though not as defined as an hourglass body type, light abs and full breasts.
• complexion : peachy, slightly sun-kissed, maybe almost tan with all of the time she spends out in the sun. she has light freckles across the bridge of her nose and various places on her body, but they’re hard to see unless you’re looking for them.
• scars : two down her back, in line and along her shoulder blades, where wings should be, though she's very insecure about them and she covers them with magic treatment that puts a glamour over them to hide them. she also gets little scabs and bruises a lot because of her clumsiness and frequent time spent in the woods among sharp branches and thick roots.
• piercings : several places in her (pointy at the ends, though not extreme or any great deal longer than a normal ear, due to her being a fae) ears, all fae-safe jewelry and gold toned, she likes too many of her earrings to just choose one to wear at a time, so she has been known to just pierce another hole if she needs one without thinking anything of it.
• dressing style : very feminine, maybe even flirty? she leans towards skirts as opposed to pants, but she’s not opposed to jean shorts, and loves her overalls- most of the time featuring little embroideries -more than anything, and also huge sweaters. her style is not at all modest and often sheer, showing a lot of skin very frequently, whether it’s cleavage or a short skirt. oftentimes a part of her outfit is flowy, and the majority of the time it’s the skirt/bottom portion because she likes to twirl. white cotton dresses and flowery sundresses are staples in her wardrobe, as well as flower patterned anything, really. a lot of her attire has lace of some sort and little ties or ribbons. she wears a lot of things that could fit into the cottagecore/fairycore aesthetic, just spicier pretty much. her color palette features pastels of all of the colors of the rainbow, but never black or red or really any dark colors. for more ideas, see here.
• other fashion : she loves jewelry, though, again, gold toned and safe for fae to wear. she prefers little dainty jewelry as opposed to anything chunky, especially for necklaces. she likes charm bracelets and friendship bracelet type things and strings of beads, really anything even if it doesn’t actually match her outfit very well. for more ideas, see here. she’s also anti shoes, she loves being barefoot. you have to hold her down most of the time to get her to put shoes on, especially if you’re going for a walk in the forest or somewhere out in nature. however, if she’s going out in the town or for a night out, she’ll often pick sandals, cute little ballet flats, decorated sneakers or strappy heels, if she has to. but if you get her in heels at the club, she’ll most likely leave without them on.
• voice : airy, high-pitched, sweet, tremulous, whiny at times, soft.
• most noticeable features : her eyes or her mouth because she’s very expressive with them.
• other : if your muse is supernatural or has an affinity for the supernatural, they might notice she’s a bit ‘off’, more than what a human muse would notice, which would also be sort of ‘off’ but more so alluring than anything.MENTAL .• diagnoses : nothing formally diagnosed, but i am all knowing so this is what she has and what i have written her with the ideas of :) autism spectrum diagnosis, generalized anxiety disorder, and probably something to do with substance abuse, because she uses a variety of them to distract herself very frequently, but it’s not at a point where it’s conflicting with her relationships, or she has a very clear ‘addiction’ to it.
• alignment : neutral good.
• likes : flowers, peaceful places, loved ones, animals, nature, cheerleading, warmth, kindness, love, comfort, parties, things her friends like, feeling loved/cared for, affection, weird sweaters, mini skirts, parties, glitter, drugs, alcohol.
• dislikes : cruelty without a cause, being alone, being overly babied, being told to stay put, the dark, large/deep bodies of water, the cold, winter, winter coats, meat, hunting.
• mbti : esfp.

• hobbies to pass time : gardening, cooking, baking, crafting, dancing, party hopping, sewing, coloring.
• phobias : thunderstorms (semi-resolved, if she has a bad day she might need to be held during one, but most days she finds them exhilarating), bodies of water, drowning, disappointing her loved ones, being boring, being cruel and hurting someone, being abandoned, firearms.
• self-confidence level : it varies, she’s pretty self-confident in her body/appearance. she knows she’s pretty, but she worries she’s not enough in any other aspect of herself.
BACKGROUND.• birthplace + current residence : clausste, oregan. she lives in a cottage in a fae forest. but the forest exists everywhere and allie can go virtually anywhere of her choosing if she has it in mind once she walks through it, ending up at the place she has in mind once she leaves the forest. allie also just moves around so much, and hardly stays in one place fairly long unless she has something or someone keeping her there, (Just Ask, she will stay and try so hard to) and her cottage is definitely one of the places that keeps her.
• family : the only family that is in her life in any regard is her mother, olette, who actually physically isn't in her life currently, but allie considers her to be.
• pets : it isn’t uncommon for her to take in an animal that needs care, but she does let them go, even though she really doesn’t want to. her door is essentially, and literally, always open for creatures of the woods, and they have a tendency to wander in because she knows most of them personally.
• financial status : lower - middle class.
• criminal record : clean.
• vices : lust, leaving everything behind, blinding optimism to a point where it can become ignorance, addictive substances.space❝ + POSITIVE ATTRIBUTES : kind, caring, loyal, affectionate, charismatic, gentle, hopeful, optimistic, enthusiastic.space❝ +/- NEUTRAL ATTRIBUTES : bubbly, talkative, ditzy, people-pleasing, curious.space❝ - NEGATIVE ATTRIBUTES : gullible, insecure, oblivious, see-through, clingy, naive, dependent on others, lonely.❝ ABILITIES. in comparison to all magic-users, or even just all fae, allie's magical abilities are limited, and have mostly to do with the way she feels and experiences the world around her.-dOTHER LINKS .❝ ONE. psychology & mental health deep dive.❝ TWO. connections.❝ THREE. what you will notice about my muse first cheat sheet.❝ FOUR. headcannon tags. ▍ ❝ MAIN VERSE.
allie lives in her cottage in clausste, her love for people never shutting her away forever, though she finds comfort in the woods and loves being there. though she's not always in clausste, leaving has become a habit whenever she gets bored or overwhelmed. she can also be found adventuring in other places, finding a home on a stranger's couch, bed, or a hotel.▍ ❝ FANTASY.
similar to her main verse, except set in a fantasy world. allie is more in touch with her magic in this verse, her affinity for nature and natural magic heightened. she's more comfortable doing small spells, but still without her wings and isolated from other fae kind most of the time.▍ ❝ CELEBRITY.
the modelling and fashion industry is a cold place for someone with no adult guidance, and allie's naive enough that she doesn't notice. her agent has a lot more leeway than they should, but they don't care what she does outside of the runway or the magazines. fame is harsh, and allie falls into a bad crowd that promises to supply her with things that'll make the pressure lessen. she has the public image of a sort of dreamy, happy girl who is popular among sites like pinterest for candid photos of her smiling brightly admits the glam and backstage. also for her casual street style which is a mix between coquette-ish and cottagecore.▍ ❝ COLLEGE.
basically an second arc for allie where she cannot stay in the cottage anymore because of how she feels it's stunting her growth and suffocating her, it's similar to her 'city' verse in that she lives above a flower shop that she works at, except now she attends a community college nearby.▍ ❝ RIORDAN-VERSE.
instead of fae, she's half-dryad, and just kind of vibes at camp half-blood because she doesn't really have any other home to turn to after the abandonment of her mother. she enjoys playing around in the woods and can often be found helping with the groves and gardens, because she's not any help on the defense or questing front.▍ ❝ THE VAMPIRE DIARIES UNIVERSE.
allie's lived in small town mystic falls for as long as she can remember, and even with her mother gone, she stays put to take care of her flower shop. other than that, she balances cheerleading and school and always manages to make time to get lost in the woods every once in a while. chatting away to anyone who will listen, even if they're strange creatures fallen right out of a storybook. she finds them easier to relate to than everyone else in town, the magic buzzing gently beneath her skin reaching out for them. she can feel they're different, different like her. like fae, only not quite.
▍ ❝ DESCENDANTS.
(fun fact! allie was a descendants oc before she was fandomless, so her main verse is pretty much modeled after this one. i won't force any dynamics, obviously, but when i mention the general relationships she has with auradon and isle borns, it's from my experience with rping her and plotted out connections i have) allie's descendants verse is set after the third film, with the barrier between the isle and auradon down. she's auradon born, with her mother being a flower fairy that fled from pixie hollow directly after becoming pregnant with allie. just outside of auradon, in the woods, is where allie's cottage sits. she struggles similarly with auradon prep and the kingdom in general like she does clausste, feeling lost among her crowd of the perfect friends that she loves so dearly, who all seem to know where they're going in life, most to lead their kingdoms or something equally as successful and impressive. while she is a cheerleader at auradon prep and best friends with audrey, staying close even while most others don't, she finds herself drawn to isle borns, they are easier to be around, and in some ways, she feels safer. her naivety and kindness has charmed several isle borns, both into friendship and causing them to feel the need to protect her. therefore, she spends a fair bit of time there so she can be with them. sometimes, she if gets lost in the woods near her cottage, tender thoughts in her heart for those that she loves, she finds herself coming out the other side on the isle, with no idea nor concern on how she's done it.▍ ❝ FEAR STREET.
allie lives in the woods just beside sunnyvale, and attends their schools. despite her ever-sunny, cheerleading (and constantly high) disposition, she always feels deep inside like she doesn't belong.
1978. she works at camp nightwing as a camp counselor, and adores it, she is especially in charge activities in the woods. she's present at the massacre of camp nightwing, and survives it, not unscathed from mental or physical scars, of course.
1994. essentially just her base for this verse, but set during the 1994 film.▍ ❝ THE WALKING DEAD.
right before the turn, allie was in a serious relationship with her sometimes possessive boyfriend, and they have been together since then, even if she'd rather be anywhere else in the world. she's safe, he deals with the scary parts and she takes care of the home things, and sometimes it really feels like they're the only two people in the world.▍ ❝ STAR WARS.
(affiliated with aldereign) allie's made into an orphan young, but she's lucky enough to be taken under the wing of princess leia organa and shown worlds she's never even dreamed of.▍ ❝ YOU.
(affiliated with rosabae) following the abandonment of her mother, allie goes to stay with her extended family, the quinns, in los angeles.
▍ ❝ STRANGER THINGS.
allie's main 'arc' takes place in season four, where she is the same age as nancy, jonathan, robin, and chrissy. allie is a senior at hawkins high school, cheerleader, babysitter, working at a diner nearby as she is taking care of herself since her mother left when she was fourteen. allie has an affinity for the supernatural elements in hawkins, but she's relatively unaware of it. she's often written off when she describes her strange dreams and the whispers and screams she hears from the woods. it only worsens her senior year, strange, misplaced clock sounds come from blank walls and trees.
stranger things v2 , arc one. the same as v1, but she is a victim of vecna as well. her physical, earthly body is dead and broken, no funeral to be had without a guardian to pay for it. allie's wailing soul lives in vecna's mind along with his other victims. the fight with eleven weakens vecna's grasp on allie and she slips away, finding her body in the upside down and climbing out through one of the many cracks between the two worlds. when she arrives in hawkins, she's sickly pale and with dark scars in shape of the vines that had held her up, random nosebleeds with black blood that she's hardly aware of occurring, and nowhere near the brightness of how she used to be. arc two. vecna's supposed to be gone, but allie can still feel him, hear the clocks and the voices and him under her skin. unable to bear it, she leaves hawkins with hardly any warning.▍ ❝ FINAL FANTASY XIV.
allie is a white mage that lives in gridania, secluded from the rest of society in the twelveswood. she is more in touch with her magic in this verse as opposed to others, mostly because her mother would practice her healing on her when she was younger, before she left, of course.▍ ❝ THE HUNDRED.
an earthborn farmer from the clan, trishanakru within commander leksa's coalition. allie has a strange and unexplained mutation due to the radiation that gives her sensitivity to plants and animals. able to befriend them and help them grow and flourish. everyone and everything she's ever known has told her that violence and revenge is our way, but she disagrees. she is incredibly curious, and eager to meet new friends from skaikru, even if she's told not to by the people in her village who are protective of her, having known her naive nature and distaste for violence.▍ ❝ BARBIELAND.
allie was created to be the sexist and controversial ‘bimbo barbie’ from the 1970s, but was discontinued because of how inappropriate she was as a children's toy and lives with weird barbie. she learns to see herself as more than 'what she was made for' and develops interests and hobbies like allie has in her main verse.▍ ❝ GRISHAVERSE.

deep in the woods, far away from where any fae or human could find her, an eighteen-year-old olette hid herself and her unborn daughter in a secluded cottage. after sleeping with the human father to her child, she worried the fae court would punish her for letting him go. she couldn’t stay with him; the moment she told him the news he vanished practically into thin air. leaving her alone and heartbroken to raise her daughter, olette resented him and was sure to pass that on to her daughter. the thought of raising a child when she was scarcely an adult herself was tiring and it wasn’t as if olette had ever been particularly fond of children before. she didn’t have anyone she could call upon to help, scorned from the fae and the humans nearby in their picture-perfect town of clausste tended to look down their noses at anything that didn’t fit in between their lines, and olette definitely didn’t fit. no family, no real connection inside the courts, olette would be utterly alone in raising her daughter.on a warm spring afternoon, daisies blooming all around the cottage, valentine was born, olette calling in a favor from another fae that had left the courts to help assist with her birth. she had her eyes, big baby blue sparkling things that olette swore were prettier than any flower she had ever seen, not to mention that they looked just like hers. similarities didn’t stop at just the eyes, they were nearly a spitting image of each other. and valentine smiled. olette’s heart had never glowed so bright, the sight at the tiny bundle of joy in her arms burned forever into the back of her mind. “ i made you, buttercup. ” whispered into the air, almost incredulous but still entirely enthralled. valentine paid no mind, a peal of laughter only a baby could give leaving pink gums, not yet grown teeth, hands going up to grab strands of her mother’s hair. and olette let her, of course, she would let this tiny, happy thing do whatever she wanted as long as that delightful laughter continued to reach her ears.she was well-behaved, even at her youngest, her behavior was one of an angel, the need to please striking young. but, as any baby would, valentine’s nights were spent crying out for her mother and what she needed but couldn’t say yet. olette decided that a crib would only make her cries louder and kept allie sleeping by her side and in her arms. still, it all became too much too fast. soon her cries were no longer bound to the night, and olette was becoming tired and careless, neglecting simple responsibilities to take care of her daughter. instead, she began to rely on magic. olette told herself that anyone with her abilities would do the same, anything to hush the cries of her baby girl and restore that twinkling laughter. but magic can’t do everything, magic- or at least the kind olette used -can replace feelings, an illusion of sorts. if valentine cried for hunger, her cries were shushed, a blanket of full feeling fell over her, but she was never actually full. it was a similar deal with sleep. because of this, valentine was small and frail, getting sick very easily despite the fae blood in her veins that was supposed to protect her from simple illnesses. valentine no longer had the baby appeal to her, and olette found herself growing in disdain and disgust for her daughter.it's one dark summer night, the air heavy with the sickly syrup of the evening and the blueberry fey wine olette had promised she wouldn't drink, when olette swears she feels the flutter of wings against her arm as valentine shifts in her sleep, too old to be an infant and too young to be a child. it's too soon for this, isn't it? far too soon. valentine will fly away and she'll be gone from her forever, and she's so small and lovely now. she won't be small forever, she can't grow yet. that dark summer night, drunk on wine that was supposed to stay beneath the floorboards of the cottage, she carves the barely there wings from valentine's back, gifting her scars instead that would grow as she ages in place of the wings. but she never tells her daughter that, not while she's small and not when she's big, either.as she grew older and learned to talk, valentine saw how tired her mother got when she cried, saw the downturn of her features and the strange words she used to make her feel better. even as a toddler, valentine was inquisitive and curious. she wanted to see everything. she wanted to touch everything. including but not limited to the arrays of potions and books her mother kept out of her reach. she couldn’t quite voice her questions, but tiny, grabbing hands and pointing fingers were a universal language between the two of them, and olette could always make time for a story. she told lavish tales of magic and wings that couldn’t get wet and faerie courts filled with beautiful creatures, saints that looked after them and their little cottage. olette told valentine about the white picket fence, not much taller than a bush, surrounding their home, telling her it was spelled to keep them safe from fairy hunters and pirates that climbed out of the sea and its depths, looking for fairy girls that weren’t safe far away from the water’s edge. it wasn’t long after that valentine began to learn to talk, her first word being ‘ mama ’ and other babbling sounds like it. olette was thrilled at the idea of teaching her daughter spells, raising a little fairy so she’d no longer be alone. perhaps, little valentine could be a peace offering of sorts to the courts, to show that olette had not strayed far and had, in fact, created a child that would be a perfect addition to a society of faeries. unfortunately, as she would find out later, the human blood seemed to overpower the magic flowing through her; there would be no wings or spells larger than a party trick. only a deep, deep connection to nature.the next word of importance was her name, which valentine struggled through immensely, but it was mostly practice on her own, trying out sounds and scrunching up her nose when it wasn’t right. she tried ‘ buttercup ’ , the nickname her mother so frequently used, but that wouldn’t come out right either. one day, her mother caught her, hushing her as she tried to push out the ‘ v-a-l ’ telling her that that wasn’t what she should be practicing. then, she learned how powerful names were, especially to faeries. she learned that valentine wasn’t something she could keep on her sleeve. instead, she was allie. and allie was easier to press past her lips anyway, so she didn’t complain.it didn’t take long for allie to try and test the story about the fence, pushing past the unlatched gate that her mother had left behind after bringing her in. allie’s childhood was rife with nature, often running past the gate with her mother on her heels. but today, there was no mother following her, she was inside and would continue to not notice the disappearance of her three-year-old. allie became lost easily, stumbling clumsily over branches until she walked so far there wasn’t a single thing around her that she recognized. her legs gave out from under her, exhaustion rife through her tiny body, almost ready to give up and cry until she saw her mother’s eyes again. that was until she caught sight of something shiny not very far away. just a few more steps, tunnel vision on finding out what it could possibly be. allie never made it, though, slipping on a wet brick of an open ground well that she hadn’t seen prior to now, where she was falling in it with a scream. she couldn’t swim, had been warned away from water in case of damaging her growing wings or the threat of pirates. all she could do was scream and cry, hoping that her mother could somehow hear her. but olette never did, someone else pulled her out of that well and brought her back to her entirely clueless mother. after that, allie doesn't need stories to keep her away from water, though they certainly help.

from then on, allie wasn’t allowed to leave her room when her mother wasn’t awake. and even more than that if she forgot about her, which was frequently. if it was a punishment, to allie, it never felt like one. it took a while before she got any sort of good at sneaking out of her window when her limbs were much longer and could get her through. when she didn’t need the scraping of a wooden chair across the floor and knew the creak of the floorboards enough. she didn’t mean to go against her mother, honestly, it was just the buzz of cicadas and the hooting sound of owls and the fireflies, and allie just needed to see them. many scraps and cuts had been acquired while being out of the window and in those woods at night, but they were covered by overalls and lacy socks. she got good at hiding things young, unable to bear the look on her mother’s face when she got upset. olette didn’t have the patience or energy to do anything besides putting a lock on the door, she never thought once of the dragging of a wooden chair as a step and the unlatching of a window.the memory of the well brings nightmares that leave allie ending up in her mother's bed, scared and crying. when they start, it's a period of time where olette allows allie's door to remain unlocked. at first, they're just about the incident with the well. but then they start to develop into other things and wear the faces of the stories her mother would tell her. then, she dreamt about pirates and torn wings. they would only get worse and more vulgar as allie aged, but luckily olette found another magical solution. if she was being honest, it was a drug. sparkling dust with addictive qualities that could be consumed a multitude of different ways but for allie, was stirred into her drinks. the effects didn't matter to olette, because they helped get rid of allie's dreams as long as she had it every night before bed. she knew it was a dangerous thing to give a child, and yet she never stopped to think about it. it kept allie out of her bed and gave olette back her good night's sleep. she called it ' dream dust ' instead of something for allie to stay away from.it’s a few months after she turns seven years old before one night, she takes her mother’s stories with anything but enjoyment. this time, curiosity plagues her as olette talks of spells and magic, a few words all too similar between the stories and words her mother has told her before. olette goes to calm her mind with a sleeping spell, as she always does, but it’s a spell that allie now recognizes. maybe not the exact spell, but some of the words were familiar enough. she nearly makes her head spin, how fast she sits straight up as her mother tries to leave when she goes to lock the door that night. questions fall past her lips as quick as can be, one right after the other, eyes wide and sorrowful and confused. why would her mother use magic on her? what did she do that needed fixing so badly? olette feels as if no other choice is left when she utters another spell to her seven-year-old daughter, a memory spell that erases allie’s questions, with no thought or care to what damage that might do to her young mind. and, of course, one spell turns to several others as allie grows increasingly curious as she grows.olette falls into a routine, magicking away anything that was less than convenient for her, eventually growing to pay less attention to allie as a whole as she mourns the lifestyle she could’ve had if she had not gotten pregnant with allie. motherhood has tired her more than she would’ve thought, and raising a child isn’t as shiny as the mothers of clausste make it look. her heart has dulled a fair bit, she doesn’t have the energy to look at allie as she once did. it’s not long at all before she’s no longer mourning, and is instead leaving the little girl behind as she goes out to fill various needs. and suddenly, just like that, there is not a bit of stability left in allie’s childhood. the hours her mother is vacant for are ever-changing, and in her absences, allie learns how to take care of herself. she’s been cooking and baking with her mother since she could talk, so that isn’t an issue. what is an issue, however, is how much allie hates being alone. she begins to rely less on her mother for friendship and becomes more dependent on those she meets outside of the house, no longer caring to listen to her mother’s rules of straying too far since she wasn’t around to enforce them. when it's time to go to school, since she's not a human, allie doesn't have a family name. instead, she gives herself the name ' fleur ' in place of a human last name, as it's an after thought from her mother. then, the middle name ' hope '.school becomes her crutch. and as for the social aspect of it, allie blooms. she isn't at the top of her class, but there's a little community garden where her talents are cherished at. sometimes, she gets questions about her fluttery mother or completely absent father, but allie's good at changing the subject, and no adult is willing to push the truth out of a ten-year-old girl. after all, clausste is practically known for keeping anything that isn't shiny and perfect buried below the surface, as if it was never there. olette was one of those ignored things, mysterious and strange and unknown, clearly damaged by the stories allie tells. and, her daughter is much more willing to fit in than she is. so none of them would bat an eye as long as allie played along with their losing games. magic is out of the question, an easy secret that she keeps away from her human friends. it makes her feel rotten, secrets always have, especially when she has no one to share it with.so young and naive, easily molded into clausste’s standards and guided into wearing their pressed and pristine pastels as to not stand out in pictures. allie pays no mind to it, though, she likes their pretty clothes and houses. they all look so happy and untouchable, allie can’t help but admire them. after a while, of course, she realizes how suffocating the perfection can be, but she won’t let up, not now. they’d all be so disappointed, and allie doesn’t think she could deal with that, not them too. she does whatever she can to stay in their good graces, she just wants them to like her. she just wants to not be so alone. and they’re there for her when her mother isn’t. her perfect friends from school, they’re the ones at birthday parties as she turns from ten to eleven, and eleven to twelve, and then she’s thirteen and a teenager. she’s a teenager and she needs her mom more than ever, but she’s still not there. allie doesn’t come home more than she needs to anymore, either.the question of high school lingers, and in clausste, most of the kids filter into the boarding school, clausste preparatory. however, money falls into question this time. there are other schools she could attend, to be admitted into one as prestigious as clausste prep requires a fee, one that allie can’t count on her mother to be able to pay. her saving grace is the lottery and the whispers of her friend’s wealthy parents who have watched her grow that sit on committees and boards for the school. whichever reason it truly was, allie never found out, all she finds is her perfect acceptance letter, which is celebrated by an equally perfect strawberry milkshake at one of clausste’s cute little diners. her mother doesn’t share the same sentiments, as allie finds her home that night. they fight, for the first time since allie can remember, olette claiming that allie was just trying to run away from her and her magic. she tells her that at this rate, allie will never get her wings.
before long, allie is turning fourteen and summer is passing by her. but, more terrifyingly, she can feel the part of youth where she can run forever, untouched slipping away from her as well. talking about growing up with her friends as she lays by their clear blue pools makes her stomach sink faster than a stone in the water beside her. her friends, they talk about grades and colleges and taking over the family business and ivy leagues, words allie can't begin to recognize and she's terrified. everything is going so fast and she feels as if she's got nothing to hold onto.summer nears its end, and allie doesn't feel any more on track with the rest of her friends. in fact, the two months have only managed to make things worse. she can feel herself getting lonely again, like she's eight and her mom has just left her home alone for the first time. mall trips and back-to-school shopping fills her present mind, but she can feel the tugging guilt of upsetting her mother in the back of her head. she wants to be a teenage girl with everyone else, but it’s so hard when she feels like she’s too much behind, that she’s breaking her mother’s heart.with the spread distance between her and her daughter, olette’s magic use on allie has decreased, but the effects have all but. allie forgets things all the time. dates, words, times. but she also forgets to eat and sleep, which is more detrimental to her health than what time she’s supposed to meet with her friends. she gets sick and bruises easier, her fairy blood not doing enough to protect her in combat with the excessive magic use on her. and, so, she runs away to avoid the consequences. probably at the worst time she ever could’ve, for allie. the morning she’s supposed to leave, after allie has fallen asleep on the couch after last-minute packing the previous night, olette is gone. there’s no note, nothing telling of her disappearance besides the lack of her and her things, which has never happened before. allie doesn’t remember most of anything, as a general rule, but she does remember what her mother had told her as she was half asleep. she remembers her heavy words of how it was a mistake to get pregnant, babies will suck your whole life up.those very words are all she can think about on her first day in school. she’s supposed to be perfect, just like everyone else. but it’s a lot harder without her mother, she’d never thought she’d be gone for real. this was so much more than allie could handle, what if she never saw her again? instead of first day jitters, all allie could feel was the paranoia of trying to remember what the last thing she said to her mother was, and how that might’ve been the last forever. her hope doesn’t catch up with her until the next day, when she’s no longer anxious with twiddling fingers and barely able to push out a simple greeting without her voice shaking. this was counterproductive. she was in high school, she couldn’t be a little kid anymore. she had to at least pretend to be happy, and she was pretty good at that. what she needed was a distraction, and cheerleading served as a perfect one.a few of her friends were already doing it, and allie was cheery, maybe not so much a leader, but she could dance. it checked all of the boxes and filled her free time, so allie made friends and she was happy, it felt as if all of her mom drama could be avoided just through this. weren’t people always talking about having a healthy outlet?it only starts going downhill when she gets a bad boyfriend, one of many to come. it’s one of those freshman girl, senior boy things that earns too many stares and starts a fair bit of rumors, even before they were together officially. her friends start looking at her a little differently, concerned, almost, but she never notices. all she can think about is how happy this boy, makes her. he’s a football player, practically the king of the school and he likes her. it makes allie’s heart flutter faster than she ever thought she could. he takes her places, sometimes dangerous, that she’s never been before, with secrets that nobody’s allowed to know about but them.school doesn’t matter as much anymore, not with the parties and her boyfriend and cheerleading. though, it never really did. she knows she’s not very smart, and her mother had always told her that it was better to rely on her looks instead. so she did. her time was better spent making sure she was pretty, so he wouldn’t leave her.after time, he began to get crueler, but she didn’t leave, she didn’t know how. all she knows to do is to do what he asks of her. school grows farther and farther away, she starts skipping class on the occasion where he asks her to. allie’s already so involved in the parties and the trouble that comes with them that she doesn’t stop, even when they break up in january, him leaving with a parting message that she just wasn’t girlfriend material, instead merely hookup material. so while they’re not dating anymore, he doesn’t mind continuing to be ‘just friends’. her attendance isn’t quite as spotty, but it’s nowhere near perfect. the year only gets lonelier, she has her friends back, for the most part, but there’s something different about the way that they look at her. summer still comes around the corner like it’s nothing. and the fact of the consistency would be a comfort if not that she had to go home. the entire way there, she’s hoping, praying, nearly, that it was all one of her mother’s little trips where she had just forgotten to say that she was leaving. that allie would open the door and she’d be standing right there. of course it’s not true, and the door opens to an empty home, her mother’s absence cemented by the eerie creaking and silence.there’s no one to stop her, and there’s no one to tell her no, so she continues the less-than-innocent activities she had been doing outside of school. anything she can think of that keeps her from being alone, frequently crashing at her friends’ houses whenever she can, she tries her best to keep away from home. even as school starts, there’s hardly a hiccup in her routine, finding someone to cling onto that’ll even just look at her, and it’s enough to keep her staying.and when there’s days when school isn’t kind enough to her, she brushes it off, putting on a smile instead of dealing with anything. but, as it seems, she can’t do that forever. she’s a senior before long, and everyone around her has plans and college and family legacies and all these things that she doesn’t understand and she’s scared, honestly. it’s all too much to think about or talk about, so she doesn’t. she avoids it until graduation day, where she still doesn’t have any plans besides smiling and receiving a diploma that she doesn’t know what to do with. when she gets home, actual home, not someone else’s open door or clausste prep, there’s graduation party invitations lying in front of the door that she doesn’t bother to open. and allie does the only thing she can think of. she leaves. barely a bag packed and she’s out the door, into a bus and then out of one, completely in a new city where nobody knows her name before she’s even told anyone she’s gone.allie’s not back in clausste for six months, and even once she’s back, she’s not back for good. every once in a while she finds herself leaving again, though never quite as long. she’s made peace with the cottage, though it doesn’t feel as empty with all of the plants she’s filled it with. besides, she needs to be there at least some of the time to take care of her garden.
